Life Prepares Us for the Gospel

We are continually being reminded that we live in a world broken by the curse. We feel it in our own weaknesses, failures, and sinfulness. We feel it as we grieve the lose of loved ones and as we feel helpless to aid those stricken with diseases.

Yes, there is hope. Yes, we can remind our friends that their loved one is in heaven. Yes, we can assure our friends that their disease will eventually not characterize their existence. Indeed, we should point them to these truths we have discovered in the Word of God.

There is no magic pill to take away our distresses, and there are no magic words that will ultimately quiet our anxious minds.

This life we live, as James stated, is short and unpredictable. “You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14).

Life calls us to the gospel. The brokenness, weakness, pain, and anxiety have a point. These things scream at us to alert us to the reality that life is hard, wearying, and often over before people are ready. In this vulnerable position, we find that God is more than enough. He satisfies (John 7:37-39; 4:13-14), He seeks us in our brokenness (John 4:23-24), He is near to us in our brokenness (Psalm 34:18), He is acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3), He fills us (John 14:26-27; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:16), He restores us (Psalm 23:3), He assures us (John 16:33), He is working to change us (Romans 8:28-30), and all of this because He was willing to save us (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9).

Do you feel it? Do you feel pain? Anxiety? Weakness? Disappointment?

Ah, yes, the world has prepared you too — to hear and embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ (https://www.cornerstonechurchri.org/the-gospel). When you are rightly related to God through the gospel, you will experience the fact that God is enough!
